Nintendo GameCube

May 2001, Nintendo Co. announced the release date for there upcoming console the Nintendo GameCube and many online news groups flocked to share the news. Many new sites were lurched including the original nFamikon(A news and review community i started) as well as many Nintendo 64 fan sites converting to the new console.

At Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2001 Nintendo will showcase Luigi's Mansion, an adventure title starring Mario's younger brother Luigi, Pikmin, a "life simulation action strategy game" from highly respected game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, and the one I know you've all been waiting for... Super Smash Bros. Melee, a GameCube follow-up to the N64 multiplayer fun fest where a group of Nintendo characters basically waste each other. The GC was released in Japan on September 14, 2001 and sold 300,000 units. It was released in the US in November and by that time had a few name game titles, including the beautiful Resident Evil 0 by Capcom.

After the release many Nintendo fans couldn't have been anymore happier with there shiny new machine as in a way it was the perfect console combining cutting edge graphics and the use of mini-dvd's made it feel like you were loading a game rather then putting a dvd on. It wasn't just the console itself that was so well polished but it was games that really made it including Luigi's Mansion selling over 348,000 copies in Japan and 2.19 million copies in the United States and showing us just how powerful the new 128-bit processor was. Later came Super Smash Bros. Melee and StarFox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet all with amazing gameplay and polish.
